Auto-populate attribute values into custom Asset field

Hello Community, 

Is there anyway to auto-populate the attributes for my  Custom Asset Field upon work item creation? 

What I envision is: a user submits a work item and the system auto-populates the attributes for my Custom Asset Field "Devices" by linking the User submitting the ticket to their device in the asset schema.

I have 2 Object Types in my "Tech Ops Assets"  Schema: Devices and Users; Users is also a referenced attribute for the Device Object Type. 

I've seen videos that show you how to set up an automation to copy the input from an Asset Custom Field to a Custom Text Field but that still involves user interaction.

Do I understand your scenario correct (as follows)?

You have an Asset Schema with two Object Types; Device and User.

Each Device object type includes an attribute of type Object that holds a reference to a User object.

A user accesses JSM Cloud customer portal to submit a request.

They select a Request Type that include a custom field of type Asset Object. You named that field "Devices".

You want the Devices field to be populated with all the Asset Objects that are linked to the user opening the request.

 

Do you want those Devices shown in the request screen when the user is filling in the request?

If not, then you could use an Automation Rule to populate the field after the user submits the request.
