Creating an Automation for a Date field and convert it to a Date Time field.

Hello all, 

I am trying to convert a date field to a datetime field.

The field is target date(Date Field) to Planned start(Date/Time field)

 

When just writing the automation to copy Target start to Planned start shows a date and time, but the day before

I have tried adding hours and days but it doesn't not appear if I try this.

 

When putting into the comment It does appear correct. This is if I copy the target start and Planned Start

 

In the detail pane it shows:

Planned start now shows Dec 04,2024, 6:00PM

Target Start Shows Dec 05, 2024

 

In the comments it shows correctly:

 

 

 

Target start:2024-12-05

Planned Start: 2024-12-05

Welcome to the Atlassian community! 

When asking for help with an Automation Rule it is helpful to use if you provide screen images that show the entire rule and the details of each step. Sometimes there are typos, or context is affecting the outcome, and we can determine that only if we can see the actual rule.

Another element that may factor in to this scenario is whether or not you have a time zone preference set. Dates and times are recorded in the Jira Cloud database as UTC, and then within the UI date and date/time fields are converted for display based on your time zone setting. That could be a factor in this situation.
