Import Jira software project into a software project not available

I am using the Import data function, by using the app " Jira (software project)" because I want to import tickets from a software project into a new software project.

I have selected the software project to be imported but in the next step I am only

able to import this into a new business project, the option software project is not available. Why?

Hi Jack, As an Admin I am able to use the import function and see two additional apps compared to non-admins.

You go from the navigation bar and select Projects followd by "Create project"

Then you scroll down all to the bottom and choose for " Import data"

The URL stays at ...... /jira/projects hence I cannot share

@Daniel Bagiński , can you confirm that you are simply trying to create a new software project by importing using a CSV? Would you mind listing the steps, and what you are exactly seeing or experiencing?

when this post was originally posted, I was thinking that we were talking about a third-party app, but it appears that maybe we're talking about native import.

It is indeed a native import and not the marketplace app, even though @Lianne Geerlings used the phrase "the app." We are discussing YOURSITE.net/jira/settings/system/external-import.

In the section "Where would you like to import from?" click on "Jira (software project)
Select the software project from which you want to import data. from.
Set up a project in Jira; this is the step Lianne described. We can't choose any project type other than a Business project. We would prefer to select another already created software project for which we want issues copied.

It's a shame we don´t have this import feature available for software projects. I managed to import it to a business project, but it doesn´t have the structure I need for the epics and the backlog. It seems I will need to create an additional Jira Software project, move all my imported tasks to that one, and re-link the epics with my recurrent tasks.

The alternative is to use a cloning app instead. Although I always prefer to use the native features instead.

I just tried and only see the Business Project option, still missing the option Software Project.

So is the goal to move issues from one software project to another? If so why not use bulk change feature? I will have to try the import option as I have not previously done so.
