Automation to a Board

Question

Hey,
I am pretty new to Jira, but I am trying to automate an issue creation to  a specific board.

within that board, we have different workflows (stages/statuses) and we want to make the issue auto go to the specific workflow stage.

I don't see a way to do that in the workflow builder, it doesn't go anywhere within the board so I am a bit confused on where it is going.

Are you using a team-managed or a company-managed project?  (You may find this information at the bottom-left side of the page expanding area.)

When using a team-managed project, transitioning an issue does not move it to the board.  An extra rule action is needed to Move To Board before or before the transition.

Hi @abraham , welcome to the community.

To be clear issues or not created "to a board". A board is simply a visual representation of issues defined by a filter. The filter might be wide open and simply equate to, for example, the entire project, Or it could filter down from there such as project = ABC and status != done.  With that said, let's try to focus on your goal and see if we can get you a solution. It would help to have the exact details of what you were trying to achieve, but based on what you have provided, let me provide an example That might get you pointed in the right direction.

Let's say That the statuses on your board are To do, In progress, In test, done. And let's say that this issue created is to be set to "in progress" well, normally, the issue would be created in the to do status. In this scenario your rule would look something like this...

* trigger - issue created
* conditions - defined by you to ensure that only specific issues are operated on by the following action
* Action – transition issue to In progress
