Updated approvals configuration in workflow not updated in existing issues

We have a workflow for a specific issue type which used to require 2 approvals. We have changed it to 1 approval only, however all existing issues still require 2 approvals. New issues require only 1 as expected.

Tried transitioning all existing issues from OPEN to OPEN in hope that it'll update the approval required, but it did not.

To update the approval configuration for all existing issues in JIRA, you can follow these steps:

• Navigate to the Administration section of JIRA.
• Under the Issues category, select Issue Types.
• Find the specific issue type for which you want to update the approval configuration and click on it.
• Look for the Workflow section and click on Edit.
• In the workflow editor, locate the transition that represents the approval step you want to modify.
• Edit the transition and review the conditions associated with the approval.
• If the condition specifies the number of approvals required, update it to reflect the new requirement (1 approval in this case).
• Save the workflow changes.
• After updating the workflow, the new approval configuration should apply to new issues created. However, existing issues may still retain the old approval configuration.

To update the existing issues, you can follow these additional steps:Navigate to the Issue Navigator in JIRA.

• Create a JQL query to filter the existing issues that need their approval configuration updated. For example, you can use a JQL query like "issuetype = 'Your Issue Type' AND status = 'Open'" to filter the specific issue type and status.
• Execute the query to retrieve the list of issues that need to be updated.
• Select all the issues from the search results.
• From the More Actions menu, choose the Bulk Change option.
• Follow the prompts to perform a Bulk Transition on the selected issues.
• Select the transition that corresponds to the same status (Open to Open) to trigger an update on the issues.
• Proceed with the bulk transition and confirm the changes.
  
  By following these steps, you should be able to update the approval configuration for all existing issues of the specified issue type in JIRA, aligning them with the new requirement of 1 approval.
