How can I stop table columns from auto-resizing?

I have added a table to a document, and it has a lot of data in it.

I'm trying to adjust all the column widths to keep it readable, and am OK with the table scrolling horizontally.

However, Jira keeps altering my column widths -- on save, and also as I adjust others.

Is there any way I can *lock* column widths?

Hi Brant,

No, this does not describe the problem I'm having.

As stated, Confluence does not allow me to lock a column's width, so as I adjust one column's width, the next one is shrunk.

And once I Publish, all the column widths I set are discarded anyway. So all that column width adjusment is pointless anyway.

I have a large table.
Many rows. Many columns.

I want to size the columns so my data format cleanly.

I start by adjusting columns from left to right, making them wider as needed.
I can not resize the last column.

I scroll down the table to check other rows. I need to adjust a column. But widening it makes the one right of it narrower.

So now I have to cascade the resising all the way to the right.

If I could LOCK a column's width THIS WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE.

If I could lock the widths, I could adjust one column WITHOUT RUINING THE NEXT ONE.

Is that clearer now? A screen shot would not show this.

I am experiencing the same. However, there are some cases when it keeps the expanded columns and time when it does not. I have not found a consistency to it.

If I look here Stop auto column width adjustment (atlassian.com) the Community Leader indicated that the new editor would, by default, not be responsive on tables. Which is what the OP seems to be raising.

I would like to know how to raise this as an bug to Atlassian or how we provide feedback. I don't recall seeing this before, but this is also the first time I'm on the cloud version of confluence.

There's three main issues I have with table formatting.

First is that there's no longer a way to make it overflow (despite the fact it's one tiny change to the CSS to enable it)

Second is that when I am happy with the width of one column, I can't lock it so adjusting others doesn't change it.

Third is that when I publish, all this is for nowt, as the column widths are pretty much ignored when not in edit mode.

So the first two are really feature revival requests [historical articles suggest at least the first _was_ a feature previoustly]. The third is a bug.
