Change the due date of all tasks and subtasks of the Epic

Hello, I am looking for an automation to change the due date of all tasks and subtasks of the Epic when the due date of the epic is updated.

For example: Original Epic Due Date is June 10, 2023, new updated due date is June 20, 2023

• Task Original Due date is June 5, 2023
• Subtask Due date is June 1, 2023

What type of automation would update the current due date for task/subtask to the number of days the Epic has been updated by (10 days).

 

I am okay to set up two automations one for Epic and Task and one for Task and the Subtasks. Any help will be appreciated.

To cascade the change of Due Date from Epic to child stories and their subtasks:

TRIGGER: Field value changed - Due Date
BRANCH: For Related Issues - Stories (or other issues in Epic)
  ACTION: Edit issue
    Field: Due Date
    Value: Copy from Parent
BRANCH: For Related Issues - Subtasks
  ACTION: Edit issue
    Field: Due Date
    Value: Copy from Parent

The first branch copies the value from the Epic to child stories.

The second branch will run when the rule is triggered again by the updating of the stories, and will update their child tasks.

You'll need to make sure that the check box is checked on the Rule Details page for "Allow this rule to be triggered by events in other rules".
