When creating tickets I normally use snipping tool, copy the image and then select Ctrl+V in the description box of the ticket and it adds in the image.

Do you use Google Chrome on Linux? This combination seem to be problem - Copy/paste text between issues doesn't work (Atlassian community)
I try ctrl+c & ctrl+v from Windows Snipping tool and Google Chrome and worked for me.
