Realtime setting of field configurations

Question

Hi, we would like to migrate to cloud and are wondering if it is possible to use e.g. Automation for Jira to update field configurations (hidden/required) based on other field values or changes.

We know that Scriptrunner behaviours can do this, but we won't use scriptrunner on cloud and are wondering if it is possible in any other way.

I tried to use an "Edit Field", triggered by "Edit Issue" with advanced setting to:

Can this be done in realtime (in the edit view, not after the edit is done) and is a custom field configuration accessible through json in automation? (And how would someone reference that?)

Our second thought was to use forge to migrate our scriptrunner behaviours into own skripts. Maybe someone has experience with that?

It's taken a long time to persuade Atlassian to support even the basics of Behaviours on Cloud.

We've not got mandatory/optional fields done, and there's a limited list of field types Behaviours works with.  We're working with Atlassian to get the structures we need to be enabled, but there's no point in trying to do it yourself - Connect and Forge simply do not have the functions you will need.  We're trying to get them added!

What we have got is entirely dependent on Atlassian enabling us to do it, and the list is at https://docs.adaptavist.com/sr4jc/latest/features/behaviours - it's current functions plus what we're aiming for.  Where there's a "no", we are working on it, and we think we will be able to do it.  But they simply cannot be done now.

Hi Simon,

No automation for Jira can't do that. ScriptRunner Behaviours is the only app I know that can do that.
