Can we change a project type from Jira work management to Jira Software ?

Question

We have a project created with Jira Work Management, however we find it hard to create and publish boards as well as publish the board using jira roadmap to Confluence as it is not allowed. Looking to convert this this project to Jira Software.

Can someone list any issues with this ? and steps on how to go about this ?

I don't see any options to change the type, grayed out or not.  Must've been removed?

I'll repeat here what I said over in that thread... Option to change project type is greyed out and it tells us that we must create a new project and move the issues. Problem is, that now "burns" that project key on that instance forever, and in a large enterprise-wide instance, burning project keys can become problematic quite quickly.

The recommended approach is to set up a new Jira Software project and bulk move your issues into that new project.

There is a step by step guide available on how to do that.
