Hi, I'd like to know if there's a way to automate moving Jira issues from one type to another issue type. I know you can do it manually, but can you do it via the out-of-the-box JIRA automation?
Hey @Saira
We would need to use the API in automation to change the issues type.
Please refer the below link for reference

Thanks,

Hi Saira,
You could do this with automation as long as both issue types (the current one and the one you are changing to) use the same workflow.
Thanks but the issue types do not use the same workflows. And we do not use JSM, we use JIRA Cloud. Would the API way still work?
Thanks but the issue types do not use the same workflows.
Hi @SairaIf both issues types doesn´t have the same workflow maybe you could try use Automation to create a new issue (with the new issue type) using the relevant values from the original. You could decide if the first one have to be deleted or marked as cancelled but maybe that works for you.
You will not be able to do this with automation then.
I have the same issue but Issue type have the same work flow. Automation is not changing
I have the same problem and both issue types have the same WorkFlow. AUtomation is not updating
And field contexts and screens and field configurations?
Could we not just auto approve selected request, and use the same the workflow.
use a single select and if first two are selected and they are auto approved and next two items ( say 3 and 4 are selected then they can run the require approval process.
