Restrict linking of “Defects” with “Tasks”.

Question

Hello,
I have to limit the linking of “Defects” with “Tasks” in a way so that “Defects” can be linked to “Tasks” only when the “Task” is in a specific status.
And this restriction should not be applied to any other issue type. So a "Task" should be able to be linked with "Story" but not with a "Defect".

Thanks for your response @Jack Brickey

This article is about workflow property which is useful if we want to restrict all types of linking when a task is in a specific status.

However, the workflow property does not allow selecting the issue type which can be restricted.

This is a typical use case that I think may not be possible in Jira.

There is a limit on what you can really do regarding restricting linking based on status. It comes down to modifying the properties forgiven status. However, doing this for specific issue types is going to be limited. While you can have a dedicated workflow for giving issue type I am not sure how you could restrict specific link between two different issue types for a given status. Here is an article that I had come across previously that might help you. Preventing users from linking issues on a specific status
