Automation - Auto Assign based on SmartValue Custom field

I am trying to do a transition-based auto-assign where the field I wish the system to look at is a custom field "Team Owner". 

After reviewing the help guides I selected Smart Value & under user, I entered {{Team Owner.displayName}}. 

 

When I attempt the transition the assignee is not updated and when checking the logs I get the following error : 

Error assigning issues

(Specified user does not exist or you do not have required permissions)

Most likely the problem is that you're using the display name and it can't look up the user that way. Try either just {{Team Owner}} or {{Team Owner.accountId}}.

This is less likely, but just in case that doesn't resolve it, make sure that your rule actor has the Assign Issues permission in the project the issue belongs to. If the rule actor is the Automation for Jira addon user, check that the atlassian-addons-project-access project role has the permission.
