Problem: Adding Hyperlink To Description

Question

Hi! I am currently unable to add a hyperlink in the description of my Issue's like I previously was able to do.

I previously would highlight the text in the description of the Issue, and then scroll to the top and click the hyperlink icon and then paste the link into the hyperlink box. This would then create the link within the description. This is very helpful when linking to a specific Zeplin screen for example.

Has something changed? What am I doing wrong?

Old question but hope this helps someone.
To reference an attached file in the description field, expand the + menu (top right)

Select the "Attachments on this issue"  widget:

Then select the file from the list presented - it will be inserted into the description content as a clickable thumbnail.

There are two things to look at, initially, it sounds like you are using the classic editor in lieu of the New Issue View, as the new issue view does not have an option to remove the issue linking option you are describing, and a quick note on the use of the classic editor:

From Mar 31, 2021, we’ll be moving all users on the old issue view in Jira Cloud products (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Jira Core) to the new issue view — which means you won’t be able to switch back to the old view anymore. For key dates, what’s next, and more details, check out our official announcement.

To enable the new issue view you can navigate to your "Profile picture > Personal Settings", and then scroll down to the Atlassian Labs section, then select the selector slider to enable the new issue view.

Alternatively, if you are still needing to use the classic editor due to a feature requirement locally that is not available in the new editor yet, the next thing to check is the Field renderer, as it sounds like the Description field is using a "Text renderer" instead of the "Wiki Style Renderer" to change this behavior, the following document details how to configure the renderers for the classic view:
