How can I prevent changes to the Fix Version for closed issues?

Some closed issues assigned to Releases/Versions have been accidentally moved from one Release to another. The behaviour I want is that if the issue does need to be moved then the issue has to be reopened.

How can I prevent the Fix Version field from being changed once the issue is closed?

You could remove the edit permission for closed issues. However, that would prevent editing any field which might be more restrictive than you want.

Thanks for your answer Trudy. This solution is more restrictive than I'd like, because I'd like the ticket to be able to be reopened in some situations.

This solution does not prevent reopening (changing the status of) the issue. It only prevents editing while the issue is in specified statuses (i.e. Closed).
