Use custom date field in automation rule condition

Hi everyone, I'm attempting to update an issue on a status change only if a date field called "Blocked Date" on that issue is blank. I'm not able to select my custom date field in the condition. Is there a way around this with JQL or other criteria? I've tried but when I go to validate I'm having no luck.

Have you tried:

"Blocked Date" is Empty

I would have my automation as per the following screenshot

 

With "Blocked Date" is Empty, I was able to get all issues without any data in the blocked date field.
