Let’s rewind for a second.
Think about your very first day using Jira, Confluence, or any Atlassian tool.
Was it intuitive? Overwhelming? Exciting? Confusing?
Did someone guide you or were you dropped into a board with 200 issues and told “good luck”?
I’m genuinely curious how others experienced that first contact.
For many of us, Atlassian tools become second nature over time. We forget what it felt like to:
not understand workflows
wonder why a field is mandatory
get lost in permissions
or try to figure out where something “lives”
And yet, that first experience shapes how teams adopt the platform long-term.
So I’d love to hear:
What was your first impression?
What confused you the most?
What helped you the most?
If you’re an admin now what would you do differently for new users?
Sometimes improving adoption doesn’t start with new features. It starts with remembering what it felt like on day one.
Looking forward to your stories. :)
I personally realized that I had a rather narrow understanding of Jira’s functionality and Atlassian as a whole 🙂
My first impression was how impressively feature-rich Atlassian is and how many useful tools it offers, even though not all of them were immediately clear to me. The Jira and Confluence courses were very helpful, as well as the support from colleagues.
I’m still at the stage of learning and figuring out the value of each tool and feature.
I love this question, so i want to talk about my experience🥰
I landed my first job as an Atlassian Specialist on June 2025 (not so long ago!) and I didn't know anything about Atlassian, it was my first time hear about this word😂.
So I began as an intern to learn about this new world of tools and I never looked back!
I was so scared, but my team and all the documentation helped me master the tools.
Now I am Atlassian Certified (ACP-420 and ACP-620), but I still have a long way to go and I can't wait!
I'm very happy to be part of this community and I'm proud of my journey!❤️
I started a new job, where they thought it would be good if I wrote the documentation of our app in Confluence. They had created a Confluence instance with a Free plan, since I was the only one who would be using it to start, and I was told to just figure out everything, starting with creating a space. The wonderful people in the Atlassian community became my best friends.
