Hey Everyone!
My name is Jason and I wanted to introduce myself to the community :) .
I’ve been using Jira and Confluence for about 15 years now as a user. I started officially supporting them as a site admin in 2022 as part of my role. At the time I was also a Scrum Coach and a leader helping build out our process that is still being used today. I had a lot of fun standing up Jira and Confluence from the ground up for several new teams with the goal of automating our managed hosting company.
I mostly learned by jumping into the configuration, seeing how everything worked, and then setting it up to match our needs. I’ve always been good at picking up something new and figuring it out as I go.
A couple of years later my team was unfortunately laid off and moved overseas, so I had to find a new opportunity. Around that time I decided to really lean into Atlassian since I was enjoying it so much. Even before the layoff I had already started working through badges like Jira Fundamentals and Confluence Fundamentals and shortly after I earned my first Atlassian Certified Associate (ACA) for Jira Software Board Configuration.
Not long after I was approached by a contractor to support the organization where I now work full time. I came on as an Organization Admin supporting Jira, Confluence, Guard, and Rovo and I’ve now been here for about two years. I’ve really enjoyed the role and have continued building on my certifications adding more ACAs and the new ACHs, as well as a Power Platform certification since I also picked up building automations and supporting a Power App.
Currently I’m working toward my first Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) for Cloud Organization Admin. After that I’m not completely sure which direction I’ll go, possibly more ACPs or I might shift into Jira Service Management (JSM) related certifications for a bit as I would love to learn JSM.
I’ve been part of the Atlassian Community for a while now and it’s probably the first work related community I’ve really engaged with. I’ve spent some time in Microsoft communities as well, but it’s a different experience. I really appreciate how helpful and active everyone is here and lately I've been trying to be more active in the community forums, so hopefully I’ll see you all around!
