Welcome Wednesday: Is it too early for Halloween decorations?

Wednesday.gif

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. It’s that time when it’s more socially acceptable for me to be dressed up in costume without judgement that I’m weird. I also have two small children that love this time of year as well.

My question for you this week: When is it too early to start decorating your house?

Personally, much like Christmas decorations, we wait until the first of October before we start putting up decorations, but I have neighbors that have started getting things out as soon as the kids started going to school and I have other neighbors that will only put out a jack o' lantern the day of Halloween.

I’d love to hear your personal thoughts and opinions on this in the comments below.

Have a great rest of the week!

Okay, here’s the my opinion with decorations:

Christmas can wait its turn until after Thanksgiving—because let’s be real, I’m not skipping over pie and mashed potatoes. And honestly, people take Christmas down way too early! Technically, the season runs strong until mid-January. So don’t worry everyone, you’ve got December 1st through January 13th to crank up the Christmas music and deck the halls. Let Thanksgiving have its spotlight, folks.

Now, fall decorations? Bring ’em on the very first day of fall! And Halloween? Totally fair game to start early (first day of fall), because let’s face it, some people need a whole construction crew and three weekends just to get those skeletons climbing their houses. Plus, enjoy that cozy Midwest autumn while you can… because if history has taught us anything, it’s that the first snow loves to crash the Halloween party.

This suggests that there's ever a time when it's less socially acceptable!

I used to put my big scarecrow dressed in fall colors out on my porch as soon as fall started and I would put indoor decorations in the windows, but, when I would put out pumpkin(s) varied based on the weather where I lived—I didn't want them rotting before the day arrived.

Of course, now we live in a neighborhood with a Homeowners Association that dictates when you can put decorations out and when you have to take them down. 😢
