Throwback Thursday: what is you favorite: soft serve, concrete, froyo, scoop ice cream? #TBT

It's Thursday!

When I was an exchange student in the glorious year of 1987, I was introduced to Dairy Queen and their wonderful Blizzards. I can't remember but it probably took me couple of trips before I settled on the Reese´s peanut butter cup as my fave. I also do like the chocolate dipped strawberry one!

Then, about 10 years ago, me and my family stumbled upon Nielsen's frozen custard in St. George, Utah. I really like how smooth that ice cream feels! My favorite flavor is bumbleberry (strawberries and raspberries I think) with chocolate flakes. Their peanut butter one is also one to die for!

Soooo, what is you favorite type of ice creamish product: soft serve, concrete, froyo, scoop ice cream, sherbet, or what?

I love chocolate banana shakes! Dairy Queen has a Savannah Bananas shake right now that's pretty tasty - it's like a banana split in shake form!

I became allergic to milk after my son was born, so I was strictly fruit sorbet for a *long* time.

A couple years ago, tho, I found the brand "So Delicious." They make a whole line of dairy-free, gluten-free frozen desserts, and every one I've tried is great! I almost cried when I found cookie-dough "ice cream" that's actually delicious and doesn't make me sick!

Back in the days when we lived in Raleigh we used to go to Goodberry's Frozen Custard, and I usually had their vanilla concrete with Heath bar mixed in. Another favorite was Lumpy's ice cream, they use local ingredients and one of my favorite was their Bourbon ice cream.

We have sort of a tradition to take the kids to Snow Goose the first and last day of school to have a scope of their immodest cones.

I think @Amanda Barber is on the right track.  The Savannah Banana Shake at DQ is mighty tasty.  The only thing better was making your very own Banana Split (your way) when you worked at DQ.

My old reliable is always scoop ice cream, specifically Rum Raisin flavor, and to this day it's my go-to.  It helps that my family all hate raisins for some reason so I get it all to myself.  But, I still pine for a favorite from my childhood, a soft-serve vanilla ice cream cone with a miniature Cadbury Flake chocolate bar inserted into it, called a 99.  It was simple and delicious.

I don't know about creamy ice cream (we don't do that much here 😅), but if I had to pick something that I really like today is Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream. So good!

Scoop gelato for me! 🍨 Pistachio is probably my all-time favorite, but I also love stracciatella and lavender when I find a really good one 💜

Now I'm curious how frozen custard compares… this post may have added something new to my must-try list 😄

BUSTED!  @Kristján Geir Mathiesen  I worked there for 2 years, when I was 16-18. However, I was relegated to the back for making the hamburgers & hot dogs.  I could only make my delights when I was on break.

Still, @Dan Breyen , that is very cool place to work at (no pun intended but I guess the pun doesn't work since you were in the hot back so...). A friend of mine worked at the only Dairy Queen in Iceland around that same age.
