It's Thursday!

Today we have an open ended #TBT post. An all-inclusive #TBT post. This one is depending on you to share with us where your mind goes when you have a few minutes to reminisce.

Sooooo, what do you think about when you want to think back on something nice from the past?

I go back to my childhood summers with my grandparents on the Kentucky Lake. Fishing, swimming, riding bikes, playing cards with my little sister and generally running amok in the woods and on the water.

I think about traveling with my family when I was a kid. My parents instilled the travel bug in me. :)

"I always go back to the music. Nothing hits quite like a song that reminds me of a great summer with friends and sisters. :)

I normally go back to all the various places I have lived. Turkey (really young), Panama (remember the crab migrations and earthquake tremors, sloths and nature). All the different locations in the USA and then all the places I visited in the Navy.

Remembering when my son was little. Sitting on a zero turn mower with headphones on and him falling asleep on my lap while mowing. 

Dropping a skittle over the side of the ship to see how far down you see it go at each port. 

Being out in the middle of the ocean and all the stars.

I go back to playing games (board games, card games, outdoor games) with my 5 siblings—right up until someone got upset about something and had a meltdown. For example, before all the little armies on the Risk board got thrown across the room by my little brother.

Travelling and music (and sometimes combined) - some of the best experiences were when attending music festivals with my friends 🪩, or when travelling with my family ✈️

Although I have so many things going on lately, I rarely think back and remember the past 🤔

So many simple days with my siblings growing up in the 60's and 70's - the music, playing outside with friends in the neighborhood from sun up to sun down, rotary phones and party lines, picnics, family drives in our station wagon on Sunday afternoons, and so much more!

There is usually something that triggers the reminiscing - a smell, a song, a photograph, a conversation, a name, etc. Some times it sadness, sometimes a deep down belly laugh, and sometimes just some thoughtful reflection.

I think about friends in grade school and how simple life was during those years.
