Throwback Thursday: a baby sibling? #TBT

It's Thursday!

One of our daughters is married to a guy who is going to school. So at the moment, they don't live close to us. Couple of weeks ago, she gave birth to another son; they already have a two year old son. The older brother has been pretty good and soft with his brother. However, he is just two so once in a while he moves in too fast to hug his little brother or just wants to pinch him a little.

I am the youngest in my family so I don't behave this way. However, according to my older sister, I did display some tantrum behaviour when I was younger, like being super mad when I lost at games. She also has a story about me disassembling her favorite stuffed animal but I am not sure if that story is totally, completely true though...

Soooo, what stories of younger-older siblings in your family do you want to share with us? Or maybe a story of you interacting with them...

One day, I get a text from a friend - an only child - who was infuriated that a bus didn't stop and wait for her to get on before leaving. 😬

Interesting to sometimes see the attitudes of children (or adults) who grew up in different sibling situations. 🙃

That's the kind of memories that sticks with you, isn't it?

I have some memories with my younger sister where I was definitely the one causing the mayhem. You push a stroller down a hill thinking it's going to be fun, and it all goes sideways in seconds. The guilt hits different when they remember it decades later and bring it up at dinner. Honestly though, these are the stories that become the foundation of sibling relationships. Years later they're not mad about it, they just remember being under a stroller with their older sibling nearby.

I'm the oldest in my family and have lots of memories of my younger siblings causing mayhem. I don't remember this, but my parents often remind me that I was less than thrilled when my brother came along when I was 4 years old. 😅 

I have two kids of my own now. My oldest was really sweet with our younger kiddo and pretty helpful since she was almost 4 when our youngest was born. So fun to look through old pics.

When I was little, I used to boss around my sister, who is nine years younger than me. I was 12 and she was 3. I would ask her to bring me things and do favors for me, and if she said no, I would warn her, "Just watch, I'm counting to three." Then I'd start counting, and she would immediately do whatever I asked.

One day, though, when I told her again, "Watch out, I'm counting to three," she replied, "Go ahead and count. Then we'll see if you actually have the courage to do anything."

From that moment on, she is the one who started to boss me in similar way ... 😄

Well, compared to some other sibling stories here, I’d say my sister and I were pretty well-behaved kids 😅 At least, that’s how I remember it!

My sister is seven years younger than me, so for quite a long time, we didn’t really have that much in common. Interestingly, as we’ve grown older, and especially over the past couple of years, we’ve bonded more than we probably did in the previous 20 years combined! 😄

I just hope the timestamp doesn’t make anyone here feel too old 😅

I don’t have any siblings myself, but I’ve heard so many great stories from friends about growing up with brothers and sisters ❤️ The adventures, the arguments, the inside jokes… they all seem to create such special memories.

If I’m lucky enough to have a family of my own one day, I’d definitely love my children to have siblings 😊

My older sister had a tenancy to pick on her little brothers.  That was until one day my dad reminded her that "one day they're going to be bigger than you" and then her perception of her little brothers changed.

I know I'm late responding to this one but I do want to share that I was #2 of 6 in my family. There were 4 sisters before the two boys came along. I dare say we four sisters were not always considerate of our younger brothers...there was falling out of a tree, falling off the piano bench, and the time someone was pushed down an icy steep field on a metal pan at a crazy high speed.

Thankfully, we all survived and are very close, no hard feelings and no permanent injuries.
