Throwback Thursday: Your first Jira issue (work item) #TBT

It's Thursday!

giphy

Do you remember your very first Jira issue, either the one you created or the one assigned to you? What was it about, and how did it feel working with Jira for the first time?

I started using Jira in 2010, when the company I was working for switched over to JIRA as its ticketing system. I was a group leader back then over 8 or 10 server and storage technicians. So my very first ticket was probably related to some of the work I needed them to do.

Soooo, what was your first Jira issue about? Or what do you remember about it?

Let’s make it a great Thursday!

Vividly. And lividly.

I had a job at an unnamed international corporation that used to make business machines, and had to track work and absences in 3 separate systems. I forgot to log a 1/2 day time-off in one of those, so had to write an email to my manager explaining why I did not do so, and attach the manager's response to a Jira ticket I had to file to rectify the situation.

Edit: It was in 2013 :)

Mine was most likely titled "Test" or "Test <something>" 😅

I was in charge of process (re)design as I worked in a startup where the department I joined didn't have things set up. So we decided to also try out Jira, as other hardware and software dev teams were already using it.
All of that was in 2019, and I can barely remember it... 🫠

At my previous job, the tech writers were assigned Jira tickets for each guide that we wrote (epic for application release version, story each for user and admin guides). We had to give an original estimate, log time against the ticket, add comments on what we did, and adjust the estimate as we figured out it was going to take more time (it almost never takes less time 😀).

My very first one was part of the Dragon Slayer Quest back in 2009 (still have the t-shirt :)). My very first one in my professional world was in end of 2012, I had just set up Jira on a Windows server and connected it with Jama Software and was syncing some requirements over as part of a proof of concept.

Dude, that was almost 13 years ago. I remember the project, but not the individual issue.

I was evaluating Jira 2.x for a book I was writing in 2003. So I installed the free version on a laptop and created things in Jira. My main recollection is that there was no API at the time, and just Jelly scripts for automation (XML IIRC)

I was in the same boat as @Tomislav Tobijas.  Only it was 2014 and we were moving from Trac & SVN to Jira and Bitbucket (Stash at the time) server.  Having joined the startup from an Atlassian competitor about 6 months before this, I got tagged to help with setup and administration.

I'm guessing mine would have been involved in the car registry in Iceland in 2006 and might have been something involved in the start of getting the owner exhanges electoric ;)

On the topic of "fun" tickets I do recall a "special" ticket at a previoius work.  If you forgot you lock you computer you assigned (we'll others did) the "Pooping" ticket to yourself so we had a good log of who had been cought ;)

Oh hell no.  Started using it back in 2008 when I was looking for a software solution to move us to the agile methodology. Too I was looking for wiki collaboration. Disregarding the trial/assessment period my first ISSUE (work item :-( ) would have been associated with delivering our video streaming platform solution but I surely don't recall the specifics. I do recall going overboard creating excessive and ill-formed stories. It took some time to find the sweet spot.
