Some years stay with us more than others.
For me, this year will definitely be one of those years. I met the person I want to share my life with, and we got married last month. That is something I will always connect with this year.
Another memorable year for me was last summer, when I finished my Bachelor in Business Administration with a focus on Controlling. That experience taught me a lot about discipline, structure, and staying consistent, and those lessons still help me in my daily Atlassian and IT work.
So for today’s Feel Good Friday:
Which year is especially memorable for you, and what made it stand out?
It can be a big life event, a professional milestone, a personal achievement, or even one small moment that stayed with you. 🙂
France - I've been multiple times. Always nice. And their wine... Awesome. Japan and USA are still on my bucket list. Little too expensive for my actual job, haha. Germany and a middle-sized company are struggling, actually. Either I must work more or somewhere else 🤣.
You know why I picked years? Because I don't know a single person who doesn't have preferences like "OMG, this year happened for me something important that triggers memories of people."
@Arkadiusz Wroblewski Congratulations on your marriage!
Thinking about your question, I can't settle on a specific year; they all have their memorable times. Perhaps 2000 when I moved to England to work and live—a new country, new job, new friends, and not such high airfares back to the States to visit my family.
While I agree with @Amanda Barber about having many memorable moments outside a specific year, if I had to choose a specific year, it would probably be 2020. No, not because of all the crazy bad things that happened, I personally had a number of positive events:
- As disappointed as I was to not be able to attend my first Atlassian Summit as a Community Leader (yes I'm using the old terminology intentionally ;) ), the Community team did a wonderful job of making a week long virtual event that was very memorable and I ended up winning the Rising Star award.
- After finding out about Extra Life at the end of 2019, with everything being locked down I had ample time to learn about video recording and editing as well as live streaming and I participated in my first 24 hours event.
- Finally, I switched companies and I'm still working for that amazing company that has given me plenty of challenging work and room to grow in my career supporting thousands of users in the Atlassian Ecosystem.
That's a good topic. By the way congrats @Arkadiusz Wroblewski 🙂✨
Let me take you on a journey through my life's cutest cosmic alignments:
2014: The year I hit the jackpot and met my best friend, who’s now my husband! He’s quite the catch, and I figured I’d keep him around.
2024: Fast forward a perfect 10 years and - boom! - our twin girls made their grand entrance, sealing the deal on meeting the three most beautiful people in my universe.
Now that I say out loud, I didn't realize that it's a decade which lined up so perfectly 🙂
