Happy Friday, Community!
For today's conversation, I want to know - how do you fill your cup? This week was pretty draining at work and home. I've been thinking about how rarely I spend time doing hobbies anymore and am trying to find time to fit more of that in! So, how about you - what do you do to make sure your battery isn't on empty?
@Ikram Seo I removed a promotion that’s against our rules of engagement. Please take a moment to review our guidelines so you're aware for next time. Thanks!
To recharge I usually swap my work devices for my PlayStation, it’s the best way to kick the anxiety. Other nights, I just want to fill my cup by snacking and rewatching comfort shows like Friends or The Big Bang Theory 😁
45 to 60 mins every day working out 🙆 - it really does miracles when it comes to recharging.
I'm really grateful to have a whole 'mini gym' in my next room, but this minor thing lifts me up so well that I cannot even describe it.
Apart from that, with warmer weather on the horizon, doing weekly cycle tours also helps out when it comes to distancing myself from work, house, and all other duties and obligations you might have over the week 🚵
During my working day, I literally fill my cup (with water). This forces me to get up from my computer throughout the day so that I pause & breathe, stretch, unclench my jaw, and go for a walk (to the restroom). 🤣
I also read a lot and watch house hunting and cooking competition shows.
When I'm not working, I avoid the computer and try to get out of the house with friends and family—cards and board games, trivia, bingo, Disney parks, concerts and plays, shopping…
Taking ballet class fills my cup.
I sit at a desk all day and engage my eyes, fingers, and brain. The rest of my body checks out.
Ballet reconnects me to my body and focuses my mind on something entirely different from what I spend my work days doing. It requires my entire mind to be fully engaged in what I am doing, leaving no room to dwell on the stress or problems of the day.
Ballet is completely immersive for me. It is my "pause & breathe" and my "guided meditation". And my teacher and classmates are the most lovely and supportive groups of people I know.
Love this! I don't do ballet (maybe I should try! 🤔) but I really enjoy group fitness classes for similar reasons. Like you said, something that can take my mind off stress and problems of the day. Plus the support of classmates. Super helpful for refilling the cups. 💙
