Happy Feel Good Friday, Community! This weekend marks a blue moon (the second full moon in a calendar month) which got me wondering - what is something you only do every "once in a blue moon," but wish you could fit in more often? đ
Britannica says, "The term blue moon originated from the 16th-century expression âthe Moon is blue,â meaning something that was impossible. For two years following the eruption of the Krakatoa volcano in Indonesia in 1883, people around the world reported seeing strangely coloured sunsets and a Moon that appeared blue. With this possible, but uncommon, occurrence, âonce in a blue moonâ came to mean rare rather than impossible."
Maybe this weekend is the nudge you need to find the time to fit in those feel good activities you don't always make time for!
I'd love both of those types of mornings and evenings more often! With two kids involved in many activities, it's been a long time since we've had a slow morning. Haha!
Catching up with friends; we've mostly moved further away from where we grew up and/or have families now so the regular catchups of our youth are just whenever we can fit it in.
Although in a few weeks it's the yearly get together of anyone who's still with us from a company I left 12 years ago; we never know who can make it so it'll be good to see who's there.
I can relate! Monday was a holiday in the U.S. and it gave us a day to finally schedule a barbecue with some friends we haven't seen in nearly a year!
Hey @Amanda Barber
What a great topic! Welcome back after your temporary retirement because of me đđ¤.
Definitely spending time with friends and making them. Adult life is complicated, and friendships sometimes too. They shouldn't be.
Haha, I appreciated the vacation! :-D
I agree about making plans and then actually keeping those plans with friends!
A bit off topic, but the moon part reminded me of something I really enjoy, but unfortunately donât do that often â just looking at the sky in the evening and noticing the moon and the stars. đâ¨
Itâs one of those small moments that gives you a completely different perspective on your time here on Earth⌠and makes some of the âbigâ problems feel not so big after all. đ
I agree, @Tomislav Tobijas. Whenever I happen to walk outside on a clear night, I am always amazed at the beauty and vastness of the sky.
Edit: just saw this post on Instagram about celestial events we can observe in June: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DZA7Rg7xHW5/
Definitely, @Tomislav Tobijas - every so often, we'll have a really clear night and I'm just in awe. Some day, I'd love to make it to a state park we have here in Wisconsin that's considered "dark sky park" for night sky viewing. https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/newport/darksky
Have you ever gone to a planetarium? It's not the same, obviously, but a cool way to learn something new!
@Amanda Barber Oh wow! 𤊠I checked the photos from Newport State Park, and they look amazing! I'd love to hear your impressions if you ever go there :)
As for planetarium, interestingly, I've never visited any in Croatia, but I did go to Griffith Observatory in LA last year after Team, and it was a really cool experience đ
Unfortunately, I was there during the day, and I didn't take the full tour, but they did have some insightful displays of constellations and the universe in general đ°ď¸
And @Barbara Szczesniak - I just saw that Instagram post. Basically half of June there will be a sky show on 'display' đ Might be a good time to get a telescope or something, hah
Ever since the pandemic, going to the movies has become a once in a blue moon thing for me. Even when I hear about a movie that I might enjoy seeing, I can't seem to get myself out there to see it.
Oh, never really thought about this much but this is the same for me. I think I have only been to one movie since before the pandemic. We have a movie theater here that plays old movies and I have been there to see Clue but that is it!
