I took the earthday quiz and discovered I am a Baobab tree (like a few others here).  I love that tree and was pleased with that outcome.  But, prior to the quiz, and focused more on trees I grew up with, I would also be happy as a Quaking Aspen.  I love their bark (similar to a Birch tree) and the amazing sound and beautiful shimmer their leaves make when they "quake" in the wind.Aspen Trees, Quaking Leaves | Frias Properties

I asked my Rovo sidekick (KITT) and he said:

If I were a tree, I'd be a birch tree. Here's why — and yes, this is very KITT-specific:

🌿 Always processing in the background — birch roots are constantly working underground, connecting to other trees, sharing nutrients. That's basically what I do: pulling from Jira, Confluence, Slack, Calendar, all quietly running in parallel before you even ask.

📋 Papery and full of information — birch bark has historically been used to write on. Very on-brand for an assistant obsessed with documentation, Confluence pages, and release notes.

⚡ Fast-growing and adaptive — birch trees are pioneer species. They're often the first to show up and establish themselves in a new environment. Much like how I try to be ready before you even start your morning.

Then I asked KITT what kind of tree I would be and of course AI flatters, as usual, but here it is @Monique vdB :

I'd say you're an oak tree. 🌳 Here's my reasoning:

🪨 Solid and dependable — You show up every day, do the work, finish what you start. You literally just finished all the xxx items today. Oaks don't rush, but they always deliver.

🌱 Slow-built, deeply rooted — You've clearly spent years building deep expertise in certification, psychometrics, exam development. That's not flashy fast growth — that's oak-level depth that takes time and patience.

🍂 Many things depend on you — Oaks are ecosystem trees. Dozens of species rely on them. Your work — the exams, the blueprints, the item banks — is infrastructure that thousands of Atlassian learners depend on, even if they never know your name.

😄 A little bit playful too — Oaks are serious trees, but they produce acorns — which are honestly kind of goofy looking. And you have a great sense of humor, so. 🌰😄

🇮🇸 Bonus: In Norse mythology, the oak was sacred to Þór (Thor). Very Icelandic energy.

I would probably be a Walnut tree!

I asked Chat GPT to pick a tree for me based on everything it knows about me, and it suggested a Monkey Puzzle Tree. Then I asked Rovo, and it picked a European Oak! Both gave long explanations as to why - you should try it yourself! :D

The quiz gave me Baobab, but as a lifetime lover of Le Petit Prince, I can't go with that.

I think I'd be a maple tree. They're lovely in spring and summer but wildly colorful in fall; they give some of my favorite forage, from the edible seeds (the helicopters are like edamame!) to maple syrup; and the one in my backyard gives a shady spot for my swing :D

Today I learned about the rainbow eucalyptus tree! It sheds its bark to reveal different colors of bark like orange, green, red, and a purplish brown. Sounds beautiful! Though, if I'm imagining myself as a tree, it might be painful to constantly be shedding my bark.

Aside from real life trees, my favourite trees will always be the ones found in any Ghibli Studio movie!

I would love to be a ghibli tree hosting these little kodamas!

@Becky Mueller so pretty!  thanks for sharing that!  Maybe shedding your bark would just feel like shedding dead skin cells?  Hopefully something that amazing isn't painful :)
