🎉 Crush your 2026 New Year’s Resolutions with Trello’s new limited-edition feature!

The start of a New Year brings fresh energy…and big goals! But did you know that while around 45% of adults make New Year’s resolutions, only about 9% keep them all year? Most resolutions fail not from lack of motivation, but from a lack of structure and realistic planning.

That’s why we’re excited to announce a special, limited-time feature that we’re testing in Trello: the New Year’s Resolution Board Builder! This new AI-powered tool helps you quickly create a personalized Trello board tailored to your 2026 resolutions. It’s fast, fun, and available for a limited time as a test, rolling out now to 10% of select users* on Free, Standard, and Premium. If you see it appear on your board, you can try it now through end of January.

🚀 How to get started on the New Year’s Resolution Board Builder

Open any Trello board and look for a popover window on the bottom right corner of your board or find the option in the “Create” menu. In just one click, turn your “someday” goal into “today I’m going to crush this!”

  1. Tell us your resolution: Share your goal (and an optional brief reason “why”) so that the New Year’s Resolution Board Builder can personalize your plan.

  2. Watch the magic: Trello instantly generates a board using AI with lists, cards, and checklists to keep you moving towards your goal.

  3. Make it yours: Edit anything (i.e. board backgrounds, cards, due dates, etc) and move cards from “In Progress” to complete.

Please note: if your workspace has AI deactivated, your Admin can enable it to try out the New Year’s Resolution Board Builder.

🏆 What will be on your personalized Trello board?

  • 🎨 Fun board backgrounds, board title, and cards: Customizable and pre-populated based on your resolution.

  • 🌟 Vision & Goals: A motivating snapshot of your success.

  • 🎯 Quarterly Focus: Concrete milestones, quick wins, yearly roadmap, and due dates to build momentum.

  • 🔁 Habits: Simple routines that compound toward your goal.

  • 🎉 In Progress: A list holding your current tasks and a place to mark items as complete.

  • Reflections: Light check-ins to celebrate wins and adjust as needed

💡 Tips for sticking with your 2026 Resolutions

✅ Start small: Focus on one resolution and aim for consistency.

✅ Schedule it: Edit due dates and reminders so progress appears on your calendar.

Make it visible: Pin your board and move at least one card every few days.

Invite an accountability buddy: Share your board for encouragement.

🔮 What’s next?

We’re exploring how to build a year-round AI board creation for more moments that matter, like healthy habits, learning plans, travel prep, and more. Your feedback within Trello or in the Community helps shape what’s next!

*Please note: This is a test/seasonal feature and so it may not be available to all users. If you don’t see it, stay tuned as we expand access!

Thank you all so much for the kind words and excitement. We're really glad this resonates with you!

This is an early test, and any feedback you have, whether big or small, will be incredibly helpful as we learn and continue iterating. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

Hi @Brittany Joiner and @Melanie Williamson ! Thanks so much for the excitement, we really appreciate it! When the article went live, we were still in the process of rolling out access.

This is a seasonal, early test, so access can vary and not everyone will see it. We really appreciate  the interest and support as we learn from this rollout.

Trello automatically logged me out of my account randomly yesterday. Then, when attempting to sign back in, it wanted me to verify my account by sending a code to my email. That code never came through. I pressed the link to resend the code several times throughout the day, but I never received that email.

To make matters worse, the only way to get in touch with support on Trello or Atlassian is to log in. But if the problem you're having is log-in issues, what good is that?

I think it was a bug as the verification emails finally came through after 11pm last night, but I missed a whole day of work because I couldn't get into my account and couldn't contact support without logging in.

This is not user-friendly at all. What kind of system makes you log in to get support? What do the people do who can't get into their accounts because of a LOG IN ISSUE? Requiring them to log in does not help lol, a huge oversight on their end.

My boss had the same issue, so I could not look to her or our IT team for help. They really should have a way to contact support without having to log in for those people whose issue is - LOGGING IN!! Not very tech-smart for a tech company.

Crushing goals? My company and all staff got completely locked out of our company Trello account for trying out this “new AI feature” that keeps popping up nonstop in our notifications.

It hamstringed our whole CRM!! Please resolve your bugs before launching AI in your services!!
