Planner Integration with Trello Calendar / Due Dates

Hello,

I would like to see the new planner integrated with the Trello start and due dates, and allow scheduling inside of the Trello calendar itself.

It would be nice to simply drop a card into the calendar and be able to move it between time slots and change  the duration, similar to how Google Calendar lets you modify events.

The calendar view isn't very helpful because it mostly ignores times, and you can only change the date of cards that already have a date assigned to them.

My current workflow is as follows:

A new repair request comes in and has to go through scheduling and part acquisition. I then have to go into the card and set the start and due dates, which is cumbersome, especially because on desktop it doesn't allow you to set start times, and on mobile it first asks for "morning/afternoon/etc" and you have to go through an additional menu to set a custom time.

Thank you.

Hi @David Offerman

I completely agree with your suggestion. Integrating the Planner with Trello’s start and due dates just makes sense — it would simplify things and reduce unnecessary friction.

Right now, having to manually set or adjust dates in different places breaks the flow. A more unified experience would really help make planning smoother.

Hi @David Offerman @Gianito !

Appreciate the feedback! Having card's with due dates is something we are currently exploring. That being said, due date & time-blocks (what happens when you currently drag a card to Planner) are meant to represent two different concepts of time. The due date of a card is meant to indicate when a card is due - for example, "Weekly status updates" having a due date of Friday because that is the day you need to get it done by. Time-blocks on the other hand represent the date/time you plan on working on something. For example, I might block 9 am to 10 am on Tuesday and Thursday to put together my weekly status updates.

Hi @Alexandros Mathopoulos,

Thanks for the clarification! I totally see the value in separating due dates and time-blocks.

That said, having cards with due dates automatically show up in the Planner (as all-day events), with the ability to drag them into time slots, would be a great improvement.

It would really help unify planning and execution in a single place — and cut down on the current friction when managing time across Trello and external calendars.

Looking forward to seeing how this evolves!
