I've noticed Board Buttons are now represented with an icon, and don't seem to show the name of the automation anymore.
Maybe there's a setting I haven't checked; I haven't had a lot of time to investigate this, unfortunately. Just a quick look.
If this is a new change, I'd like to let you guys know that my coworkers found this confusing and preferred the name of the automation button to be displayed. Navigating to the menu or hovering over the button works, but, for a less savvy user, is just a little much.
I've also said it before, but having the board list as a side menu like it used to be was preferrable, although I do like the idea of the button to enable it being side-by-side with the Inbox and Calendar. But the Calendar and Inbox appear to the side of everything else; they aren't a separate pop-up. Having the "Switch Boards" button toggle the side view as it used to look would not only be more convenient, but also more consistent with the new interface.
Also, I'm sure this is known, but the "[" shortcut is no longer active due to this change, but still listed in the shortcuts guide.
It's been a real treat to use the Beta! Thank you guys for the opportunity. Trello is such an awesome tool for me.
@DiMaggio Tucci Appreciate the feedback!
Adding to Victor's tip below - try hitting b when trying to switch board, immediately start typing, and then hit enter to open the first board in your search (or use the left/right arrows to hover over a different board to open).
I know this is a bit different than the old experience and how you navigate between boards but would love to hear what you think of this flow above^.
@Alexandros Mathopoulos Sorry for the late reply. I love that, but, visually, I think it would still be more consistent with the new interface as well as more practical for this to appear as another sidebar, as, again, none of the other buttons are pop-up modals, but vertical sections that can be hidden and shown. And I love the search feature, but the contents are, at their core, a list, which a vertical section suits well. Pop-up modals intrude on the rest of the interface. And, while it is niche and uncommon, sometimes I just want to see the list for informational purposes.
It's just nicer to have boards as a list, visually, and pop-up modals for navigational purposes just seems clunky to me. But the hotkey, in either visual setup scenario, is still a great addition. And it's far from a huge gripe.
@DiMaggio Tucci Thank you, appreciate the feedback! I hear you, it is a very tough set of tradeoffs. Our need to have Planner & Inbox side by side with the board (to enable drag/drop experiences that are core to Trello) limits us in adding an additional panel to see a list of all your boards there all the time. 3 panels is the max we think users would be comfortable with on the screen at the same time. 4 would be unusable.
I know it is not exactly what you are asking for but would a list view within the new board switcher be helpful (instead of tiles)?
I'm going crazy trying to find my automation buttons?
Me too!
Hi Brenda and Kayleigh! Apologies for any confusion! Board Automation buttons can be found in two places 1) under the lightning bolt icon in the header of each board 2) under the ... menu in the header of each board.
In addition, depending on how wide your screen is we will attempt to show each of your individual automation button in the board header as well for quicker access. If you can not see them in the board header right now I recommend closing Inbox/Planner or playing around with a wider window.
Let me know if you have any additional questions or feedback!
