NEW! Atlassian Certificates, Rovo Fundamentals, and TWC Designation

Introducing Atlassian Certificates: Your Pathway to Recognition and Growth! 🎓 First up Rovo Fundamentals!

Hello Atlassian Community! Atlassian is excited to announce a new era of learning and recognition with the launch of Atlassian Certificates! Whether you’re just starting your journey or looking to showcase your expertise, Atlassian Certificates are designed to validate your skills, boost your confidence, and help you stand out in the global teamwork community.

What is an Atlassian Certificate?

An Atlassian Certificate Holder (ACH) is an official credential awarded by Atlassian that validates your foundational knowledge and skills in Atlassian apps and solutions.

Key features of Atlassian Certificates:

  • Official recognition: Issued directly by Atlassian, certificates serve as proof of your skills and learning achievements.

  • Accessible and flexible: Certificates are earned by passing FREE, short, online, un-proctored assessments.

  • Digital badges: Upon earning a certificate, you will receive a digital badge and downloadable PDF that you can share with colleagues and employers.

  • Pathway to designations: Certificates will be included in Atlassian Certification Designations, which recognize broader expertise across Atlassian’s teamwork tools.

🌟 First Up: Rovo Fundamentals Certificate

We’re thrilled to introduce the very first certificate in this new program: the Rovo Fundamentals Certificate! This credential is your entry point to mastering Rovo, Atlassian’s innovative platform for smarter teamwork and knowledge discovery.

Earning the Rovo Fundamentals certificate proves your ability to find, learn, and act on information using Rovo's Search, Chat, and Agents across Atlassian and connected third-party apps. The exam includes:

  • Core Rovo concepts: navigation, workspace awareness, permissions essentials

  • Search mastery: finding content across Atlassian and connected third‑party apps

  • Chat and content creation: asking effective prompts, summarizing, drafting, and citing sources

  • Agents and automation: using and triggering agents to complete tasks

To achieve the designation, earn and maintain these certifications, along with the Rovo Fundamentals Certificate:

Jira Essentials

Confluence Essentials

Loom Essentials

Also, the Rovo Fundamentals Certificate is now included in the Atlassian Certified Agile DevOps Specialist and Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist designations.

FAQs

Are certificates really free?

Yes, the on-demand prep courses and exam are completely free.

What is a Certificate exam like?

Certificate exams consist of 20 multiple choice questions with a single correct answer. You will have 45 minutes to complete the open-book exam.

How is a certificate different than a certification?

While both are based on passing assessment exams, the certificate exams are focused on the foundational knowledge of a single solution or app, therefore requiring less prep time and experience than certification exams. Certificates are ideal for starting your journey or expanding your existing credentials!

How do I earn an Atlassian Certificate?

  1. Prepare and learn - Complete the recommended free, on-demand lessons available on Atlassian Learning. These lessons are designed to help you build the foundational knowledge needed for the certificate exam.

  2. Register and take the exam - Certificate exams can be taken online using Atlassian’s new exam delivery platform, Certiverse. To register, be sure to select “Certiverse - Certificate exams and invitation only” in CM Connect. Since the exam is unproctored, you will not need to install the secure browser software.

FYI, Atlassian is in the process of migrating all exam delivery to Certiverse, but for now the platform will only be used for Certificate exams and special exam events.
  3. Earn Your Certificate - Upon passing the exam, you’ll receive a digital badge and a downloadable certificate. Your achievement will be added to your Atlassian Learning profile, and you’ll receive an email confirmation.

Does earning a certificate count toward ACA/ACP certification renewals?

While earning the certificate does not count toward renewal, completing the free on-demand courses does. See Maintain your certification for details.

How long is a certificate (ACH), valid?

Certificates are valid for 12 months. To renew, please take the free exam. There is no need to earn CE units to maintain a certificate.

Don't get sidetracked by another @Kit Friend Cert Quest... Completely derailed, but a new cert and possible designation await lol.

I would rather call it a badge or training module. That makes the skill level more recognizable. Many people won't make that difference.

This is a nice incentive to get people learning more about things like Rovo, but the exam did feel more like an end of course knowledge check rather than a certification, and if someone then went on to do an ACA or ACP the jump in the level of questions would be a big surprise.

However, including this in the Atlassian Certified Agile DevOps Specialist and Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist designations feels like it's cheapening those designations; for example, I'm doing ACP-420 in a couple of weeks, which is a US$250 3 hour proctored exam which after passing would add on to my existing certifications to give me the Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist designation, but now a free 45 minute un-proctored ACH can do the same.

But, despite my moaning, I do think this is a good idea for getting people, who wouldn't otherwise do training courses and certifications, to learn more, especially since the coursework is so accessible and the exam sign up / taking process is so quick and easy.

And like @Jimmy Seddon I now have to go get Loom Essentials!

Encouraging people to learn is wonderful! This free, easy certification about the tool, which is clearly a centerpiece, makes it accessible. Great job on creating an inviting learning path, thoughtful content, and insightful but straightforward certification questions.

However, I also agree with @Stephen_Lugton that for the "Atlassian Certified ITSM Specialist" certification, the ACP-420 "Managing Jira Service Projects for Cloud" should be mandatory. Earning just four of the listed foundational and essential ACAs does not make you a specialist.

Great news!

Seems like the Atlassian Certified Teamwork Collection Specialist designation is not showing here on the profile pages (yet?),

Nice, received the Rovo Fundamentals certificate yesterday. I have the Loom Essentials certificate scheduled in a couple of weeks, which will earn me the Teamwork Collection Specialist designation. Excited! ✨
