Work smarter, not harder! Learn the 3 habits of top performers and earn a badge for sharing

In the recent Team Playbook x Teamwork Lab webinar - Work Smarter, Not Harder - we shared our top three habits to transform the way you work, communicate, and lead your team. Plus: Create a Loom & share your favorite work practice for a chance to win $250!

Missed the webinar? No problem! Check out the replay here.

Here’s a quick recap of the top three habits:

Habit 1: Focus on work that matters the most!

The most effective people don’t just react - they intentionally focus on what matters most. Here’s what you can do, starting today:

💡 Identify your top priority each day: Take a moment each morning to decide which task will have the biggest impact, and organize your time to nail it.

💡 Connect your work to bigger goals: Ask yourself how your daily tasks ladder up to your team or company’s goals. If you’re not sure, seek clarity!

💡 Make your progress visible: Share regular updates on what you’re working on. This keeps you accountable and helps others see how your work contributes.

💡 Review and adjust: At the end of each week, reflect on what you accomplished and adjust your focus if needed to stay aligned with what matters most.

When you align your daily actions to clear goals, you’ll spend less time on busywork and more time making a real difference - for yourself AND your team.

Habit 2: Become a super communicator!

The best communicators communicate with clarity, but also make knowledge accessible. Here’s what you can do to make a real difference:

💬 Share information async: Post regular updates on your top priorities and how they connect to company goals. Replace status meetings with clear written updates or short videos.

💬 Lead with context: When you do meet, start with a page outlining the agenda and key points- then document decisions so everyone stays aligned.

💬 Be clear and concise: Focus only on what your audience needs to know and why it matters. Keep messages simple and to the point.

💬 Organize and label your work: Clearly mark if content is a draft, ready for feedback, or official guidance so others know what they can rely on.

Small actions like these add up and help everyone get the context they need faster.

  • To help you create clear and concise updates that really cut-through, try the Weekly Team Updates play.

Habit 3: Make AI your teammate!

Good AI usage is all about jumping in and experimenting. Here are some tips to get you started:

💫 Extract key knowledge: Try using AI to summarize a long article or meeting notes for you today, or ask it to pull out key insights from a document you’re working on.

💫 Accelerate learning: Join an AI-focused Slack channel, or ask a teammate to show you how they use AI in their daily work - then try out one of their tips yourself.

💫 Automate: Pick one repetitive task (like drafting emails or summarizing pages) and experiment with an AI tool to automate it this week.

💫 Let AI help you ideate: Next time you’re brainstorming or planning, use AI as a sparring partner. Drop in prompts and context, to generate ideas or draft an outline.

These small steps will help you build confidence and see real benefits from AI in your daily work.

Leaning into Habit #2 here..."Lead with Context"...

I can't overstate the importance of this in all facets of communication; Summarizing the objective, intent, scope, etc. (without bias) helps get the audience ready to receive information, and enables them to think critically about where to go/what to do next.

During today's webinar, this bunch of tips stuck out most to me as something I'd like to try to be better at:

💬 Share information async: Post regular updates on your top priorities and how they connect to company goals. Replace status meetings with clear written updates or short videos.

💬 Lead with context: When you do meet, start with a page outlining the agenda and key points- then document decisions so everyone stays aligned.

💬 Be clear and concise: Focus only on what your audience needs to know and why it matters. Keep messages simple and to the point.

Being across time zones, I already do a decent job sharing information asynchronously, but I think that I could improve upon that communication by being more clear and concise. Plus, I could bring in the idea of leading with context while using Page-Led Meetings to really make this effective. I'd also like to continue and further my use of Loom when needing to share information async to make it more accessible for all types of learners/thinkers/doers!

Great session! While all three habits shown sound promising, my favorite is probably #1.

Expecting small tweaks like 💡 Identifyyour top priority each day to pile up into tremendous progress.

Loved this session - thank you! 🙌

Habit #1 really resonated with me. Focusing on what truly matters and tying daily work to bigger goals is something I've been trying to be more intentional about lately. The Daily North Star play is a great way to keep priorities clear and aligned - definitely adding that to my routine! 💫

Looking forward to trying out the other habits too. Thanks again for the inspiration!
