Aligning Team Goals for 2025 with Strategic Guidance

After completing the How to Build Strategic Guidance course, I am inspired to use the Team Goals, Signals, and Measues play. 

As we begin to plan our yearly goals for 2025, it’s crucial that we align on what success looks like for those goals. Running this play will help us clarify our objectives, identify meaningful signals that indicate progress, and establish concrete measures to track our outcomes.

By defining these elements together, we can ensure everyone is on the same page and has a clear understanding of how their work contributes to the larger picture. This approach fosters accountability, provides direction, and allows us to celebrate milestones along the way, keeping the team motivated and focused throughout the year.

Now that a year has passed, how do you feel the play aligned with your 2025 goals? I’m currently taking the same course and would love to hear how others have put the practice into action.

One challenge I’m facing is that my teams work on multiple initiatives within the same increment, each with different delivery timelines. I’m curious if others run into similar complexities. Setting strategic guidance by initiative feels straightforward, but it gets trickier when an increment includes pieces from several initiatives.
