New ways to create Jira work items from Confluence – now live!

Turn brainstorms, notes, plans, and documentation into trackable work in Jira without switching tabs or copying and pasting.

Earlier this year, we launched new workflows to create Jira work items from Confluence. From a simple text highlight on a Confluence page, or one button to summon Rovo, you can turn specific text and full Confluence pages into trackable work items in Jira, reducing the time from planning to execution.

We’ve made more improvements to help you capture work from anywhere in Confluence faster and with less friction:

Create work items from Live Docs

Working from a Live Doc instead of a standard Page? No problem. You can now highlight text in a Live Doc and instantly turn it into a Jira work item.

Create work items in edit mode

Stay in the flow and capture Jira work items while editing your Confluence page. Capture tasks as you collaborate in real-time without publishing first.

Create Jira work items without edit rights

You can now create Jira work items from pages where you lack edit permissions. This  makes it smoother for teams, especially within cross-functional groups, to contribute actionable work.

Map more fields from Confluence tables to Jira

(We heard you!) When converting table rows to Jira work items, you can now map more fields beyond Summary and Description to better fit your team’s workflow.

These updates drive alignment and reduce context-switching, helping your team maintain momentum. If you use Jira but not yet Confluence, now’s the time to integrate it into your workflow. Bringing in Confluence transforms scattered planning into structured execution.

Try it out!

Head over to your Confluence space, whether a Live Doc or a Page, and create a Jira work item from highlighted text or table content. Bonus points if you create a Confluence page directly from Jira.

Let us know how these updates help your team!
