Why does source tree use so much Virtual Memory

Using htop on osx I see sourcetree allocating 19G of virtual memory on my machine. Resident memory size is 126M, but nothing else running on my development machine even comes close to the 19G of virtual memory allocated. Should I be concerned? Why so much?

Same behaviour noted here too. OS X 10.9 on a 2011 MBA.

I've noticed this odd behaviour too. My SourceTree reserves 20.2 GB of virtual memory.
