When view remote, can you set not to add https prefix?

HTTPS has been the standard for a while since you will want a secure connection when transferring credentials, data, etc.  I am guessing that you have a local instance that you setup since it is not using a secure connection.  You can set it up with an SSL certificate to overcome the issue.
