Staging files with long path names - longpath = true setting doesn't work

When trying to stage some files using long path names, SourceTree returns the error below.

fatal: pathspec 'ngs-liferay-workspace/modules/apps/ngs-navigation/ngs-journal-folder-navigation/ngs-journal-folder-navigation-service/src/main/java/com/ngs/navigation/journal/configuration/JournalFolderNavigationConfigurationSection.java' did not match any files
Completed with errors, see above.

The files never get staged.

He's tried setting longpaths = true in the repository  configuration file but continues to see the error.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

You can try using a tool like LongPathTool. It helps manage and delete files or folders with long path issues easily.
