SourceTree File Status Scroll Hangs and Search inoperative.

SourceTree 1.8.1.0 (on Windows 7)

With File Status selected, I change "Pending files, sorted by file name" to "All files, sorted by file name". The Unstaged file list correctly expands to all of the files in my huge project. At this point:

1. If I scroll more than half way down the Unstaged files list, SourceTree hangs.
2. In version 1.7, I could enter a filename in the Search box in the upper right and it would filter the file list. This search box does not have any visible effect now.

I'm afraid Sourcetree 1.8 is pretty much broken - see https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/36182163 for a litany of problems with it.  And links to re-download older versions.
