How to get full side-by-side compare instead of the simple diff output?

We do this via external diff tools, click on the 'External Diff' button in the top-right. Which diff tool is used is configured in Tools > Options > Diff (Windows) or Preferences > Diff (Mac).

Use File Merge. It comes free with XCode.
