I have tried unsuccessfully many prompts to create a branch with a specific name from the development branch.
It seems that, ignoring my instructions and a branch is created from the master/main branch every time.
Also, the naming of the branch is not changing, and it looks dynamically generated, not according to my instructions. For example
autodev-bot/TICKET NUMBER/GUID
Instead of
hotfix/TICKET NUMBER-SUMMARY
Am I doing anything wrong?
How to create a branch from development and use the name I want, or similar to the work item summary and type?
Just a quick follow up from the conversation with our PM!
Hello @Jovana Dunisijevic
I used Rovo Dev Coding in Jira, in the initial prompt, but also the follow-up prompt. None worked.
I am not talking about the destination branch, but for source branch.
From which branch agent should create its branch.
Regarding GIT flow, for example hotfix should always be created from the development branch and not the master or main branch.
I will also try the Rovo Dev CLI.
About custom branch naming, this is crucial for companies since most of them have restrictions and pipelines that are based on the branch name.
Its unusable at the moment if I must disable every rule I have and change my pipelines, for the branch name to work and do a code review, on a pull request with 200+ file changes instead of 2 that the AI agent changed.
Please let me know when those changes are being implemented to continue testing the tool, because we would like to use it.
We appreciate this feedback very much @Marios Vasileiou !
I understand certain things need to be in place - there's already so many tools devs are using.
Unfortunately, the team can't share the exact timeline for when these upgrades will be available, but I'd be love to hear feedback from you after trying Rovo Dev CLI!
Know that we'll definitely share it on the community when new features/updates are released.
Kindest regards,
Jovana
