Hi all,
I would like to know if there is an automatic way to extract the time stamps of status switches in the workflow. I´m mean beyond these of start, end date and so on...
Background: I´m establishing a project and would like to analyze the efficacy of the work, identify the loops in the workflow and understand how these can be optimized.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Best regards
Thomas

Welcome to the Atlassian Community !!
You can use Jira Rest API's to pull this data from issue changelogs. Or You can create your own custom fields and apply Jira automation to populate those. Another option could be to use Jira Control Chart which helps visualize the average data for one issue or a cluster of issues via dots on the chart. Y
Alternatively if you are open to try a mktplace app, pls do take a look at
With this app you generate time in status for multiple issues with multiple filter and grouping options. With the ability to export to a csv file as well for further analysis as shown below.
Also the app has many reports to meet a variety of time in status use cases.
Disclaimer : I work for the vendor who built this app
Hi @Thomas Pleli 👋
Welcome to the Community!
If you consider installing third-party add-ons, option for you can be Time In Status. You can get various real time reports with add-on. Іdentify the loops in the workflow in a few clicks. For this just:
2. Also the Assignee time report can be useful for you. This report will notify you of how much time each Assignee spent on each task.
3. Also you can see Time in States Metrics as a Dashboard Gadget. For an example how long a task was in progress on each Assignee or how long it was Unassigned. You also have a Table or Chart view for this.
4. For more in-dept analysing try out Pivot view table. We can evaluate how much the time in the In Progress status has changed depending on the number of tasks, and we can also “dive deeper” and see which tasks have spent a lot of time.
You can also book a live demo - we'll show you the application inside out and answer all your questions.
Add-on developed by my team.
I hope you find this helpful 🚀
Thank you Valeriia_Havrylenko_SaaSJet!
You mentioned that I can choose : project, assignee, sprint,..
--> can I also choose from a Keyword?
You mentioned that different time s can be displayed and exported.
--> Can I also see if an issue was circulating back and forth in the workflow: e.g. rework after a QS?
--> Could I also see in that case exact time for these extra steps?
Thank you!
1. --> can I also choose from a Keyword?
Yes, you can do by JQL search
2. --> Can I also see if an issue was circulating back and forth in the workflow: e.g. rework after a QS?
It is also possible by Transition Count or Status Count Reports
3. --> Could I also see in that case exact time for these extra steps?
You can do it by setting time ranges for the issues.
Hope this helps! 🚀

You can try Status Time Reports app developed by our team. It mainly provides reports and gadgets based on how much time passed in each status.
Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app. You can have a look at Time in Status for Each Issue , Time in Assignee reports. To get a report of status transition dates, you can have a look at Status Count And Entry Dates report. Entry date(see In Development, Ready for Testing, In Testing, In Development columns.) is status transition date and status count(see #In Development, #Ready for Testing, #In Testing, #In Development columns) is how many times an issue is entered to this status.
For further details, you can have a look at Status Time Reports How to Videos.
App Features:
If you are looking for a completely free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Reports Free.
If you have any questions, feel free to schedule a demo with us.
Hope it helps.
thank you for your mail and for suggesting these 2 apps: Status Time Reports and Status Time Reports Free.
I will try the free version.
Best regards

As you can see from the previous answers, this is an area where many Jira users rely on apps from the Atlassian Marketplace to fulfil their reporting needs.
If a Marketplace app is an option for you, I think you'll like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of so-called history columns that aren’t natively available, including an issue's time in [status], or time between [status] and [status].
This is how it looks in action:
As you can see above, you can easily sort and filter by your history columns, and also use them across JXL's advanced features, such as support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
Of course, you can also export your data to XSLX (Excel, Google Sheets) or CSV in just two clicks.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes
Thank you @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira ,
Indeed, it looks like that I will need an app.
I see that JXL has some interesting features. However, my impression is that there are other apps, that are better suited to pick up my needs.
Best regards
