Hello, New to Jira Community!
In today’s Jira Tuesday Vibes, let’s talk about something that’s not always the most exciting… but definitely one of the most important - security!
If I could give just one piece of advice to a new admin, it would be this:
Always have a copy of your data, so to say, have a backup of your Jira data.
Sounds simple? Maybe even obvious? But honestly - it’s one of those things you truly appreciate only after something goes wrong 😅
Because let’s face it - mistakes happen… It can be a misconfigured permission scheme, accidental deletion of work items or projects, a broken automation rule…
And when that happens, the question is not if you need your data, but how fast you can get it back or return everything to its place.
Having a backup means:
Even a small mistake can turn into a big problem. So, it’s nice to have some mechanisms to get back on track.
And now I wnder...
What’s the one Jira security tip you would give to a new admin? Is it about permissions? Access control? Auditing? Something else?
For new admins be mindful of using existing projects to copy off. If the new project is not as open as the one being copied from remember you will need to create a new permissions scheme in the new project.
