Automatically adjust issue ranking after edit these issues

Hello,
my team would like to have the issues displayed numerically and automatically ranking on a Jira board. The ranking should be done using by numbers that can be changed manually. After changing such a issue, Jira should automatically display the ranking in the board. We want to implement this requirement without an additional app. Does somebody has any idea? So far I have only been able to find solutions with apps.

You can't rank like that, because you have left it open for issues to have the same rank, which does not make sense.

Jira Software does have a proper ranking system though, you can move things up and down the backlog as befits where they should be in your list.  The rank field then can give you a value, but it's not that useful because, like any rank, it just shows you the position of the item in your queue (not a numeric value, because it does not need to be)
