Just wrapped up the Confluence Essentials course and wanted to jot down some thoughts for anyone who's thinking about doing it.
Quick rundown:
Made for beginners and experienced users
Can take under 20 mins to finish if you know your stuff
Covers the basics: UI, page creation, permissions, team spaces
Quizzes and the final test are straightforward — mostly stuff you just saw
Helpful if your at a company that uses Atlassian tools
Not trying to nitpick, just sharing a couple things that could make the course smoother:
Navigation: It’s really difficult to navigate, its built like a marketing funnel and having to flick through pages and find resources is difficult click through every page one by one. Would be much better if you could jump around more easily, especially to revisit stuff.
These are the only two things you need to master, they should display it clearer on the site, I get lost in the tabs:
https://community.atlassian.com/learning/course/confluence-essentials-certification-prep-resources
https://community.atlassian.com/learning/path/get-the-most-out-of-confluence
Also expectations upon course completion are completely far off, discussed next
Final exam setup: The test at the end kicks you into a third-party tool, and it felt disconnected. No clear feedback, just a bit of waiting and guessing. Could use a cleaner handover or at least some kind of progress/loading message. I had to wait for acknowledgement, still waiting for my cert and success
Looks like they’re putting effort into this space though, so hopefully some of this gets ironed out soon.
Its a really good course for learning what you dont know! I guarantee there will be something...
Quizzes are great, Exam is only single choice though.
Good intro if you’re new to the tool or want to get creds
Summary:
Great for first-timers or experienced
Acheivable
A couple UI and experience improvements needed
Strongly recommend it if you use Confluence at work
