Hi,
I am new here.
I was wondering how do you track where your app installations are coming from? We are testing to see if ads on Google are effective to promote our products but we have no clear way to see which install came from a specific ad or campaign. I added some UTM tags to the ad link but still no luck in tracking the source of the installation.
I know there’s an API report that shows some UTM data, but it doesn’t include key details like campaign name or source. Ideally, I’d like to know which installs came from Google Ads, which came from LinkedIn Ads, and so on.
Maybe I’m missing something. How are you handling this? Do you have a reliable way to attribute installs and keep a clear record of the source?
Well, that's a good question, and I think all of us are struggling.
UTMS can provide a source of views - that's something, but the main conversion can't be measured right now - the funnel is constructed that way. The only thing we can do is make an assumption - I compare the number of evaluations to reach, and that's all 😅 We all hate it. In GA4, you can find clicks from both paid and organic sources.
Perhaps something within the app could be helpful, such as a straightforward question on the welcome page from which you first heard about the app, but...
I talked with many people about it, and the same story :( Maybe we can figure it out here!
Yeah... In my research to find more about how I can track conversions I saw some questions from years ago and untill today I see that Atlassian hasn't came up with a solution for vendors...
That is very frustrating. As a marketer, I think it is very important to know the source of our conversions and, more importantly, to have a way to measure the performance of the paid campaigns. We need to know if our budget is spent wisely or not.
Maybe they will come up with a solution at some point, because even the API reports are not very helpful...
Hi @Clara Davis ,
Segment works really well and the setup on MPAC is relatively quick: Just add your write key to receive events. Events do contain UTM tags, referrers and more. A common approach might be gather events using Segment and then sending those of to Amplitude our whatever tool your team likes to use.
Hi, Oliver,
This sounds interesting.
Could you provide more info about this? Or point me in the right direction where I can find more informations and maybe a tutorial on this?
Thanks!
