Import Trello Boards - Checklists

We are heavy Trello users and wanting to move to JIRA Software.   We have found that we cannot import Trello checklists into JIRA Software.    It looks like the checklist will import if we have JIRA Core.  Does anyone see any concerns with getting JIRA Core, import all of our trello boards, and then upgrade to JIRA Software?    Will we lose anything that way?   Any other concerns?

We would also like to import Trello boards/cards with lots of checklists into Jira (as subtasks) but can't given the version of Jira we have - are there any solutions you can provide?  (would it be doable if we export and import a file manually vs connecting directly or ?)
