Hi everyone,
I've recently noticed that whenever someone creates a new ticket on any board, the Assignee field is automatically pre-populated with the creator of the ticket, even before submitting it.
This wasn't the behavior before, tickets used to default to "Unassigned" until someone manually set the assignee. We're not using any automation rules for assignment, and it seems to happen for all users across multiple boards.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be due to a recent Jira update or a change in field configuration/project settings?
Would appreciate any guidance on how to return to the previous behavior where tickets are unassigned by default.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Daniel McCarthy we have a same problem. We havent changed any settings. This bug started a week ago and its annoying. Do you have a solution to this problem?
I have the same problem. No settings have been changed recently, the projects allow unassigned tickets and the project's default assignee is unassigned.
Tickets created via pressing the create option in a column are still default to unassigned, but tickets created the Create button are defaulting incorrectly

I have been through all of the post functions etc. and there are none, it seems to be a bug related to using the Create button at the top, if you using the create button in the todo column then the project default (in my case unassigned) is adhered to
