Hello, I have 100 epics that need to be linked to the portfolio epic as a structure parent. I am not talking about adding a link to the parent link field, but actually linking the epic to a portfolio epic as a structured parent. Can this be done?
Hello @paul
Can you clarify what you mean by a "structured parent"?
Are you working with the Structure app?
Do you have an example of this already in place for an existing item that you can show us through a screen image?
There is parent/child linking through the Parent field, and there is generic issue linking which does not confer a parent/child relationship. In that context I don't understand what you mean by a structured parent.
I am using Azure Jira version.
This is from the Link dialog and selecting the Structure Parent issue type. I can select this option from the More button near the top of the epic. Then, I type in the issue key for the portfolio epic. Then, I click the Link button. Then, the the portfolio epic shows up in the Structure Parent under "Issue Links" in the epic.
Is there a bulk option that I can 100 quickly? The 100 epics need to have the same portfolio epic linked to them as their parent.

Thank you for the additional information @paul .
I'm not sure what you mean by the "Azure" Jira version. There is Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center. Are you talking about an integration between Jira and Azure?
Maybe that is not important to the scenario.
Can you provide a screen image of the Link dialog you are using? Natively Jira doesn't include an issue type selection in the Lunk dialog unless you are simultaneously creating the issue and linking it to the current issue. The dialog does provide a field for select the type of link that should be created.
I think some screen images may help clear up the confusion.
I suspect that when you say Structure Parent what you are referring to is the Link type father than the Issue Type.
If that is the case, Jira doesn't natively support doing bulk updates of issue links.
However it is possible to use an Automation Rule to go through a list of issues and link each one to another issue. Are you familiar with Automation Rules?

It looks like it is not supported doing a bulk update for linking Jira issues.
The version is the Jira Cloud, which is in Azure cloud services.

Correct, bulk change doesn't support changing issue links.
But this can be accomplished through an Automation Rule.
