The Marketplace listing says it is compatible with Jira Cloud:

You have to purchase a separate license for the app for use with your Jira Cloud instance.

@Trudy Claspill  At chat GPT, the customer should buy Zephyr-squad cloud ver. The compatible means  there are two type data center and cloud. Could you please confirm if  we use JIRA cloud, we don't need to buy zephyr squad and it is enough to use zephyr essential jira data version?

I can't speak to what ChatGPT told you since I don't know what you asked it or what its exact response was. AI engines routinely provide misinformation because they reference material that is not correct. It may have recommended that you should get Zephyr Squad but that certainly is not required. Zephyr Essentials can be installed in a Jira Cloud environment. 

You would not be using the Zephyr Essentials Jira Data Center version in Jira Cloud. The Jira Cloud version is separate and is separately licensed. The functionality a Zephyr Essentials for Jira Cloud may not be identical to the functionality for Jira Data Center. You will need to review the feature parity information the vendor provides to figure that out.

As shown below I was able to install Zephyr Essentials on my Jira Cloud instance.

From my Jira Cloud site I was able to search for and install Zephyr Essentials.

1. Search for the app

2. Click Try if Free

3. Click the Review button at the bottom of he screen.

4. Click the Start Free Trial button.

5. Zephyr Essentials appears in my Jira Cloud list of Apps

Yes, you would have to buy a license for Zephyr Essentials for Jira Cloud. No, you cannot use the version or license you have for Zephyr Essentials for Jira Data Center with your Jira Cloud instance.

Jira Data Center and Jira Cloud are different products running on different platforms and require separate licenses. The third party apps for each are also separate products designed to run on one platform or the other, and a license is required for each app for each platform.

To use Zephyr Essentials in your Jira Cloud platform you would have to purchase a license for the version of the app compatible with Jira Cloud.

That would be a separate license from the one you have purchased to use the version of the app compatible with Jira Data Center.
