in our project there are issues of type "artifact_container" that do not display the value of /components/, and hence offer no obvious way to modify this value. still these issues can be filtered for certain values of /components/ different from "none". I however need them to show up as "components = none" only.
Can the set value of /components/ be modified in either way:
- can parameters that are actually invisible for the given issue_type be edited by some other means, other than through the regular template?
- if there is a history available recording the activities leading to such undesired value, is there an "undo" feature, that could get me back to the original value of components = none?
Thanks for your proposals. Actually a more abstract description of my challenge would be. "change an issue attribute that is not visible on the screen".
Meanwhile I had a hint to try a "bulk change" (in this case for a bulk of just one issue..), and that did work for me: I could change the invisible attribute that way and in a way I needed it.
So the problem is resolved for me, thanks again!
Hi! this is the Jira Product Discovery community forum. All Jira questions should go in the dedicated forum so you can get the best answer and contribute to helping others with the same problem.
All the best in your endeavor, looking forward to seeing you on JPD!

Hi @Gerhard Heyen , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.
Are you sure you're talking about Jira Product Discovery and not Jira?
You could have a configuration where the components field is on the view and edit screens but hidden when it's empty. In this way, you can still get to it if you want to fill it in.
You should be able to filter for issues with no component with this query
component is EMPTY
But perhaps I'm not understanding your question.
Please can you give your feedback about my answer? Does it help you at all?
Best wishes
